Jacking point repair
If the centre crossmember is being replaced, does it need the jacking points or can these be ommited?
Re: Jacking point repair
You do not have to fit the jacking points. They might look "right" but nobody uses them and they only collect mud and muck, and therefore rust.
Re: Jacking point repair
The jacking points are not essential and can be left off. A scissor type jack seems to give the smallest height for placing under the front or rear suspension when a tyre is flat.
Re: Jacking point repair
Thanks! Why are they still manufactured? originality?
Re: Jacking point repair
Yep! Don't even think about doing concours without them!

I've got them on both of my minors... Flooded them with waxoyl and put a rubber cap on.
Re: Jacking point repair
They add no strength and you must NEVER use them anyway. Leave them off. They are sold as extras to the Xmember repair - so save the pennies!
Re: Jacking point repair
Since the car was and will be a daily driver not a show car, pennies duly saved. Many thanks!
