Welder in North London?

Post by Meow »

Hello.
poor MoMo is overdue for MOT. Took him to a place today, while waiting ,one of the workers had a quick look and said he wouldn't pass it with this rust. I'm looking for someone to do a repair job in or around North Islington. Anybody know anyone near?

I'm sending off to join the North London-Middlesex branch, but in the meantime thought I'd ask here.[frame]Image[/frame]

Take Momo to a restorer not "a welder", she needs a rear quarter lower panel and possibly part of the rear wheel arch and sill edge panel.

A job for a restorer who is familiar with Minors.

BTW, yes MOMO would fail the MOT as that rust is within 12 " of the front, rear spring hanger.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

As above, get a specialist as its a tricky part to repair as will probably need much more than you think.
I am still struggling to complete my similar repair which shocked me by needing attention to inner and outer sill sections plus inner wing and flange section to complete. Ended up replacing wing as well.

As John says, it is a tricky area and this is a good opportunity to remove the rear wing and carry out a proper repair to the whole area. I've just done a similar repair to my saloon too and was a bit surprised to find how much rot was hidden :o
