RE CHROMING

Post by BIGRAB »

Good evening, new to MMOC and just joined, apologies if this has already been asked/answered elsewhere.

I've got a fair bit of pitted chrome although nothing serious.

Anyone aware of anyone who re chromes to a good standard preferrably in Scotland, if not anywhere ?

Regards

Hi.
Over the past 20-30 years there has been a marked reduction in the number of chromium platers in this country. Environmental problems etc. The business has moved "offshore", lots to places like Turkey!
I tend to think that anyone remaining is probably OK. BUT the surest way is to find someone who has had work done by the prospective company and will recommend them, or otherwise. For this you don't just need Moggy owners, so talk to classic owners who may have done a rebuild etc. Or even visit professional classic car rebuilders and ask them who they use.
With chrome plating most of the quality is in the polishing!!!
best of luck
Colin
