Hi Folks
My boot handle is just turning around and not undoing the lock. Any options apart from drilling the lock out?
Cheers Mike

Re: Boot handle just turns
Whilst you can access the boot by lowering the rear seat back you will still not to be able to access the lock as the boot floor will be in the way.
You can knock the hinge pins out or undo the hinge securing nuts and lift and wiggle the boot lid away from the car or at least gain access to the lock.

The rear seat backrest that needs to fold down to access the boot is secured from.....inside the boot
With the hinge pins out you might eb able to wiggle the lid free and then remove the lock assembly.

Re: Boot handle just turns
I think it depends on the age of the vehicle. On the earlier models (certainly on my current 'face-lift' SII and a very early 1000 I once had) the rear seat backrest is secured by a 'lift-the-dot' fastener that clips to a small stud on the rear parcel shelf under the window. So with this type, you can remove the back seat from inside the car.

Seconded. My facelift S2 also has a lift-the-dot fastener on the rear shelf.

Thanks folks.
It's a 1971 so the rear seat fasteners appear to be in the boot. I'll have a go with the hinge pins at the weekend.
Cheers Mike

The hinge pins have a serration on one end - knock out from the other end.
For easy access and removal of the boot lid on my comp Minor the hinges have been retained but the hinge pins have been replaced with toggle clips.

Thanks for all the replies. Knocking the pins out worked a treat and I can now get to the trusty toolbox, do the job I needed it for and then set about fixing the boot lock!
