Re: Installing a windscreen
One thing I would say Russ, when the screen is in place is to make sure the filler strip is pushed well into the corners making sure the rubber is spread tight to the metal aperture. I put the rubber onto the screen first, then used the string method to get it in place. Good luck, it can be tricky and it’s best with two people. A bead of windscreen sealant is useful after assembly, between the metal and rubber, prior to fitting the filler strip, but not in excess. Other suggestions may follow.

I find ArboMast Auto seal to be one of the best sealants. Its non setting and also easy to clean off. Seal up before you fit the plastic trim and should give you a good water tight seal.

Re: Installing a windscreen
I think it worth getting sealant specific for windscreens, the string will need to be strong, preferably a cord about
3-4mm diameter, pull the cord slowly when installing screen to avoid tearing the rubber.

Apply to the rubber or the metal aperture before inserting the seal and glass or in the seal that hols the glass as well?DAVIDMCCULLOUGH wrote: ↑Mon Mar 04, 2019 11:46 am I find ArboMast Auto seal to be one of the best sealants. Re: Installing a windscreen
I use plastic coated washing line to fit them. It's smooth and does not snag like cord can do.
Front screens usually go in OK, but the filler strip is another matter.

Re: Installing a windscreen
There’s no joining piece with the plastic filler strip, so be sure the ends butt together tightly.

Re: Installing a windscreen
When I did my van I sourced a black filler strip. This was a little more flexible and hence easier to fit

Re: Installing a windscreen
Russ, I always seal between the body and rubber and between the glass and rubber. When you fit the sealing strip it will push out any sealer that it doesnt need which is why its good that its easily cleaned off your new paint and shiney glass!!
