lift the dot fastener for back seat SeriesII

Dear all could someone please send me a pic of the lift the dot fastener male part used to keep the back seat in place for the series II, I read that for this series you could access the boot space from inside the car, meaning the stud is on the back parcel shelf under the rear window?

There is a leather strap screwed to the back of the seat to which the fastener is attached at the other end. This clips over a stud bolted through the shelf below the rear window. I will get you a pic later today - if someone else doesn't beat me to it first!

Might I suggest that it could depend on where you fit the strap. The hole for the stud might be always in the same place, but as to the screw into the back of the seat...
Perhaps have a look at your seat back and see if you can find a screw hole in the right sort of location?

The strap in my car is 3" long.
But, as pointed out above, the hole for the strap in the rear of the back seat may not be in exactly the same place on every car. You should be able to find the hole in your seat back which will assist you. The strap is screwed in here with a countersunk screw and cup-washer.

I've ordered a fastener for Basil.
I've thought for a while about whether to bother or not, but then decided, 'Well I've got the stud sticking up, I might as well have something attached to it'.
From your image, it looks to be a strip of thin leather (seat quality perhaps) folded over for a bit of strength, rather than thicker leather.
Would that be right?

Yes, although that is my own fabrication because the old one rotted and snapped, and I had a bit of thinnish leather in the kitchen drawer which I decided to use in the way that you describe. But the original was just a simple strip of leather, maybe the thickness of a small belt.
