Quarterlight studs

Post by MaffC »

I’ve seen lots of advice to take care not to snap off the two fiddly studs under the quarterlight when undoing them. What’s the best course of action when I’ve failed and broken them off?

Thin down the heads of a couple of bolts (Dremel or file) and Araldite them in? No other options, really, unless you can Tig weld.

I’d be looking for another quarterlight, I can’t see any type of glue that wouldn’t give up when tightening the nuts. I doubt NASA has any for that job !

They don't have to be amazingly tight and the bolt head can be shaved down so it wedges itself in the gap.
