Rear boot lid repair

Hi. Has anyone any experience of the bottom boot lid repair kit you can buy. Looks like you cut approximately 5” off the bottom of the boot lid weld new kit on then paint ,, anybody tried it

I would suggest that you only cut off the rusted area as you need to and then cut the repair section down to suit, rather than cut the bootlid to suit the repair panel. That is what I did on my car. Plenty of trial fitting and adjustments before finally welding it together. Some skimming over with filler was required to hide the join but the finished job looks good and no more rust showing :)

If it’s something you don’t want to tackle, you might find a decent second hand one in better order.
