Petrol cap - locking/twist

Have a 67 traveller with a locking pertol cap but want to change it to the early twist one. Is it a simple case of swapping them over or is the neck a different design?

The locking caps I've used in the past have all had an adaptor secured to the original neck and it's just been necessary to remove the adaptor to revert to original. The adaptors have been secured in place by some form of grub screw arrangement.
