Horn buttons

Post by shymoggie »

Hi,

I have a standard black 2 spoke wheel in both the cars, and now a banjo wheel (thanks Kevin) to fit.

Does the stadard 2-spoke wheel horn button fit he earlier banjo wheel ? If so, how do I get it out of the current wheel ? If not, where can I get one from ?

Ta !

Assume that by "banjo" you mean the thing with three sets of metal spokes designed to poke through your chest in an accident?. If so, then no, the two horn buttons are different. The later two spoke button simply levers out gently - remove the entire boss from the edge, not just the button itself! The early button assemblies were held in place by a screw on the side of the wheel. Personally, if it's not concours, I'd ditch the metal thing and go for the all plastic wheel. Each to their own, and you do what's best for you.

Any scrap yard / autojumble / moggie trader (second hand spares) should be able to help with an early button. Try Leadbetters.

cheers
