Re: Fitting metalastic eyebolt bushes
I have spoken with MMc Bmhm this morning and they only have qty 1 in stock which I have now requested to be sent to me.
The part is obsolete and no plans to restock.

Re: Fitting metalastic eyebolt bushes
Have just had a call from MMC Birmingham to say that they cannot find the one they had in stock so have had to cancel the order.
So that was a blind alley and we are back to square one.

Comments re drawing.
1. I do feel that the ID of the tube is a bit tight and does not leave room for variations in the pin OD which we cannot control.
The ID of the J4 tube being 12.77mm.
2. To determine an exact thickness of the wall of the tube through the J4 bush I have removed some of the rubber from the outside of the J4 bush tube. Therefore I am revising the thickness of the tube wall to 1.69mm.
3. All other measurement agreed.
Regards
Phil

Re: Fitting metalastic eyebolt bushes
CAD drawing corrected-it might be better to increase to 12.8mm.

My preference would be to stick with 12.77mm ID for the tube.
At 12.77mm ID it is more than enough to compensate for any variations in the pin OD.
12.8mm ID would in my judgement make the pin a loose fit in the tube.

Re: Fitting metalastic eyebolt bushes
More info regarding metalastic bushes found in Minor Matters July/August 1993[frame][/frame]
Note the reference to bush FMK5137 which was fitted to a JU244? which is the same as the FMK5138 for the J4?
There does seem to be a difference in part number/vehicle application to previous Minor Matters tech tips references/applications quoted above. Should we be looking for BL Bush FMK5138 as well?

Don
Thanks for your PM.
Just happened to come across the Minor Matters article when having a clear out and decided to google FMK5138 and right at the top was the Turkish company so not much research there I am afraid.
I intend to 'e' mail the company this coming week and will keep you all posted.
My original J4 metalastic bush has now been sent to Declan so he can then examine/measure etc.
Did you note the application of the FMK5138 bush in the rear spring shackles as quoted in the Minor Matters article above. I did mention this application in a post above and that may increase the numbers required.

Re: Fitting metalastic eyebolt bushes
Brilliant research Phil,
If the Turkish company does not reply, then let me know. Our company does a lot of fabricating and manufacturing in Turkey. We are dealing with them every day of the week. I could get one of my Turkish workmates to ring them and discuss it with them and get pricing. I'll be back at work on Tuesday.
I got you PM this morning about the bush-thanks.
Regards

I will await a reply.
I will keep you informed re progress.

Re: Fitting metalastic eyebolt bushes
Nice work there! I just did a google of the part FMK5138 and found another supplier in the Netherlands. They also have FMK5137's
http://www.thepart.com/en/search/detail ... d=60910155
Assuming it's the same part as not much description......

Google translates "veerbus" to "spring sleeve".

Thanks for the info. I will send an 'e' mail to K.H. Damen.
I have a suspicion that they will be the same bush and manufactured by FKK as I have been unable to find any other manufacturer of the FMK5137/FMK5138 bush. But do not stop looking.
At £11.30 plus P&P plus VAT it is still a viable option but only just!!!!

Re: Fitting metalastic eyebolt bushes
Yes, getting a bit expensive.
These people in Nottingham also have FMK5137's listed.
http://www.inracing.co.uk/teesdale-clas ... logue-c-f/
I had completely forgotten that I emailed them back in 2009 for a price. They quoted nearly £20 all in ( ) but that was for a FMK5139 so maybe room for hope there...

Up date on K.H. Damen.
Decided to strike while the iron was hot so to speak so I have just sent them an 'e' mail asking for an all up price for the supply of qty 4 FMK5138 bushes.
I will give IN Racing a ring tomorrow and I will keep you posted.
Had a good look at the IN Racing web site - an interesting company and some lovely cars.
I wish my workshop was as good as theirs!
