Hi everyone.
At the moment to close the boot on my 51 smm 4 door the handle needs to be twisted back closed. Am I missing a spring or does the handle not self return?
I have had it in storage for a while and cant remember
Boot latch spring?

Re: Boot latch spring?
From limited experience, it is down to friction.
If I close my rebuilt one slowly the handle goes 90% of the way back to normal but if I slap the lid afterwards it will shuffle the last few degrees. The handle itself has no rotation spring but the latch does, internally fitted.
2 countersunk steel rivets to get the latch apart for cleaning.
Good luck!
