New to all this so bear with.
I have a series ii (may 56) 4 door, with a goldseal 948 engine, 'box, and hence 1000 'box cover. This may seem like a stupid question, but what carpets do I need? From what I can gather, the series ii carpets will not fit the 1000 'box cover, but the 1000 carpets may not fit the series ii floor plan. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Someone here who has been through this will *know* the answer to your question. But, as I believe the accommodation of the remote shift mechanism is the only difference in the floor between the two models, I think the 1000 carpet will fit if your car is fitted with the 948/1098cc gearbox cover.

I agree. The 1000 carpet should be fine basically. The floor is the same on both. The pedal positions might be different possibly (?) It's a long time since I had a Series 11.

Re: Carpet conundrum
Ah yes, the SII pedals were closer together until late in production (1956), but I doubt that will cause any major problems - plenty of people have fitted the later gearbox cover when trading up engine sizes and retaining the remote shift mechanism. I think you cut your own pedal slits anyway.....
Re: Carpet conundrum
Thanks. I had thought along those lines, but wasn't sure whether the size/shape of the floor had changed.
