Seat cover help.

I've just rebuilt my drivers seat with new straps & foam which went ok, even getting the new straps on wasn't too bad. But that stupid rubber strip which pushes into the groove underneath to hold the base cover in place is infuriating!
I get part of it in & the start pops out, the corners wont go in at all  . Is there a trick to doing this that I'm missing? Very close to just throwing away the rubber strip & using some of the spring clips around the edges.
Thanks.

Trim work is always harder when temperatures are low. The cover you are fitting - is it an original one or a new replacement? The vinyl material seemed thicker on the new ones when I replaced one of mine and therefore harder to fit. The original one on the other side was easy. If you're doing the job in a cold garage, can you bring it in the house with the heating on?

It's the original cover I'm refitting, I'll try warming it up though, thanks.

I recall us using bits of electrical tape to keep that rubber in place in the end

Heating it up with a hairdryer works
