Facet electronic fuel pump

Post by Cam »

I had my Facet electronic fuel pump die on me today, It has a good earth and a good live feed to it.

It just stopped (no clicking - nothing).

The trouble is that it is solid state, so I can't do much with it. I tried whacking it but to no avail...

Anyone else had bad experiences with these pumps?

I bought it brand new about 5 years ago, but it has only done about 6000 miles, it was mounted vertically on a Mini before and is now mounted horizontally on the Moggy.

The part number for the pump is SS502 or for the kit: 40106K

Any ideas?

I get about 30 MPG out of my 1380, and I use a fuel regulator to drop the pressure from about 5 PSI to 2 PSI. I am using a Facet filter king.

Facet do a large range of pumps with different pressures and flow rates, depending upon the application.

The carb will probably leak if you go much above 2-3 PSI. The trouble is that most pumps are above this value! If I were you, I would mount the pump near the tank, and mount a regulator (petrol king) where the old pump used to be.
