Replace Lock Barrels

Post by Tommy23 »

I would like to change the ignition lock and the door locks. Does anyone know how to do this?
I nal assume that after loosening the side three screws the lock body would be removable. Does nan get past the slide of the disc?
With the ignition lock I have no Vorstellubg how to make the removal. Are there specialists here who can help me?

I have just noticed no one has replied.

Is it a 2door or 4 door car. I believe this makes a difference.

Ignition. You need to remove the switch. You will need to push the speedo out. It is secured by screws on either side but you only need to slacken these. Once this is out you need to disconnect the wiring from the switch and then remove the 2 bolts securing the switch that are on the underside.

Once out you can change the barrel. It's a long time since I have done it but I think there is a pin you need to remove.it's not very dificuilt to change.

For the door you need to removed the lock. On a 4 door or van you need to remove the door top to achieve this. Not sure on 2 doors. Once the lock is out you need to knock out the pin that holds the lock change barrel and replace.

It's very satisfying having 1 key for the car...
