I have had to put this ad on again, as the original had all of the photos upside down and I couldn't figure out how to edit it!
This is a 1968 4door saloon for sale. It's in regular use as its my only car at present, so the mileage may increase. It's mostly standard, runs well, drives as it should. Brakes and steering are great, neither have been modified, just maintained as original.
4 good condition tyres.
It's tax & MoT exempt, and registered as such.
This year, I've spent quite a bit on the car, it's had new rear springs, U-bolts and bump stops. The attachment plates were found to be corroded so two new purpose made plates (£52) were professionally welded in place, along with another small weld repair, done by a local specialist, to bring the floor condition up to a very good, clean and strong standard. (£600). No more welding or corrosion repairs should be needed as they inspected the whole floor, not just the bit they were working on.
It's also just had new dynamo and control box and fan belt.
Engine oil and filter changed 42,000 miles, along with a spin-on filter conversion. Also done at the same time was the gearbox and diff oil change, air filter change, new spark plugs, radiator flush and refill.
Suspension and handbrake cable was greased, brake fluid level checked.
New reversing light fitted.
Electric windscreen washer fitted.
Rear fogs fitted.
It runs on unleaded with the addition of a gizmo in the tank. See MMOC forums for advice on this catalyst.
Points, condenser etc all good so left alone but I have a complete new set of Lucas ignition components waiting to be used when needed.
3 keys which fit ignition, door and boot.
Brand new, custom made colour matching seat belts have just been fitted last week, using the original buckles to retain original looks.
I've also repadded and resprung the front seats.
Other work done, mostly by the previous owner, (receipts present) include body panels, undersills, gbox cable strainer £325;
Stainless exhaust £124
Electro plating of badges and parts £106
Electro plating of other items, in bumper, lights, door handles, light trims £450,
Water pump and hoses £45,
Windscreen and rear window seals,
Brake cylinders £140
Radiator core £80
Very good carpets, all matching.
Seats in good condition.
Total costs of receipted parts and work is at least £2900
A reluctant sale, so I'm not accepting silly offers.
You're welcome to come and look, and drive it if you leave a substantial deposit.
Any texts with one word offers ie "£1500" will be ignored and the number blocked. Sorry to be harsh, but if you can't even string a few polite words together, you're obviously going to waste my time. I only have to put this due to being really messed around in the past when selling other stuff. I hope I don't offend any serious buyers!
For the rest of the serious buyers out there, there are a couple of jobs left to do.
The drivers side quarter light catch has come off. I have a brand new one waiting to be fitted.
I would describe the paintwork as very good, not perfect. The previous.owner had it resprayed, so I don't know anything about that. I do know, as I have his photos, that he stripped it right down to the chassis and replaced lots of bodywork.
The drivers side doors could do with some fine fettling to get them more perfectly aligned. I don't mind them as they are, they work, are secure and they lock. There is a slight misalignment though, I've tried to show it on the photos. It's not a problem, but I've mentioned it to be open and honest.
I am open to reasonable offers, but I'm not desperate to sell, so please bear that in mind before you travel to view it.
If you want a usable, working car, with classic looks and admiring glances wherever you go, this may well be the one for you!
