So far I have only been sent the information I am asking for HERE by two people.

Can any young owners interested in getting this registry setup PLEASE send the the answers on the questions to me via PM. We need a list of interested parties in order to convince the committee that setting a registry up is worth while.

Thanks.

Great idea guys, and long overdue in my opinion. Ive had my blue Minor since I was 15, thats like 18 years ago now...... :o

I havent read all of this thread cos its so long, but can I suggest that you write a letter to be put in Minor Matters for people to make contact with you who dont use the forum and we may get some more people on here from it!

Matt, this is meant constructively and you might have it covered but as i see it there are two main arguments for having a youngsters register..

the first .. there are X no. of current members of the owners club who want the register.. you have this covered by your post which is in the members only area.

the second.. there are x no. of people who would consider joining the club or rejoining the club if there was a youngster register.. just think of all the extra revenue they would bring into the club.

the presentation of both arguments to the club (at the same time) make a stronger point than just one of the argument at a time.

Went to a car show at Caldicot Castle yesterday. I put a poster in the car window advertising the fact that we are thinking of creating a Young Owner's Registry. I didn't have any young owners approach me but had a lot of support for the idea from more senior owners :D

Good luck with this, I'm sure you will succede.
I am to old for a younger members thing @ 46 but I use my Moggy as my everyday car, infact a week after buying him I got rid of my modern car (Corsa). Cars should be used and enjoyed :)
Moggieless :(

Another great Moggy orientated Forum.

not picking holes Matt, but the reason i put this thread under general discussion, where everyone can see it, is to entice potential members- if i was not a member, i wouldn't be able to access the members only area- and this could prevent would be recruits from sending you the answers to the questions. i thought part of the reason for this group was to also bring fresh young members into the club?

You make a good point. So here is a copy of what I posted in the member's area
If you are 30 years of age or younger and would be interested in joining a young owners registry (name to be confirmed) please PM me your details as soon as you can. The details I require are:

Name:
Date of Birth:
Address:
Postcode:
Contact Number:
Email Address:
MMOC membership number:
Car Registration:
Year:
Standard/any Modifications?
Why do you own a Morris Minor? Is it because they are cheap to run (no tax) and economical on petrol. because that is what parents have, lack of cheaper Euro boxes since the scrapage scheme ........... ?

The club is also interested in whether their young members make the most of the young drivers agreement with Footman James, so could you please answer these additional questions.

Insurance Provider:
Is the policy in your own name or parents?

Please take your time to answer these questions as the more peoples details I have the more likely the committee is to give this the go ahead (at the moment it seems very likely so lets make sure they do).
And we now have 9 sets of details :D

You will have someone else shortly, she is not a member of the MMOC but the girl next door has a morris.
She (20yrs old) is welding up the car for an MOT at the moment and is looking forward to getting her car back on the road next week.
it is a 2 door chopped saloon.
Also, where I store my custom traveller, they have a convertible project being built by their 19yr old son who is in college at the moment.
Seperate chassis, was a V8 but he cannot insure it so they have sourced a set of stock running gear and will modify it back to stock running gear until he can insure it with a V8.
My son also wants one but he is getting the "motorbike phase" out of his 16 yr old mind at the moment.
Regs,
Spence

13 names (including my own) in the database at the moment. Considering all but one are names from this forum alone I don't think that's too bad.

I spoke to Russ Harvey (Editor of Minor Monthly) and he says he will put a piece in the magazine :D
