1098cc engine from 1970 Traveller and parts

Postby IainBeag » Wed Aug 29, 2018 8:40 pm

Since DBY 359H went to MM Heaven I'm stuck with various leftovers, as I saved what I could from her. The engine lump was re-bored one size larger (stripped down and rebuilt it myself) 1,000 miles before the end (shame). If nobody wants the whole item I can break it into parts: e.g. cylinder head, block and pistons, starter motor, dynamo.

Also I have complete black rear Traveller seat, petrol tank (no sender), almond green rear Traveller door (right side with locking bar) and Minor 1000 insignia intact, all Traveller side windows for driver/passenger doors and rear, wheel hubs, passenger door with no corrosion but will need stripping and respraying, two radiators but only one with cap, used windscreen rubber surround plus brand new unused windscreen surround, and a bagful of bitsnpieces: wiring, switches, light covers, assorted bric a brac; new centre wood piece for middle of Traveller door, and a bottom rear wood piece for Traveller rear r/s wheel arch; nearly forgot complete heater unit.

I'm located north London though make frequent trips up M1/M6 to Cumberland if that coincides. Anyone interested please call me on 07449 544278 or email henryianshort@gmail.com. Otherwise it all goes to Barnet recycling and my wife will watch it happen with a glass of champagne in her hand.

Hi sorry to hear about the demise of your traveller and the apparent joy of your partner in it's going! I am interested in the engine, how much are you asking for it please?

Hi - if Guy doesnt have your engine - I'm also interested - if it is a really good runner and can be fitted without a rebuild - But I'm up in Stocksbridge Sheffield, 3 miles off Junction 36. Let me know what your hoping ££ for the engine (next time you travel up North, what kind of a runner it and what auxillaries are still on it? I'm allittle confused by your description, I think you mentioned it had been upgraded ? Does this mean bored out or something, is it a standard 1098?

Thanks Richard

Yes I'm definitely interested! Just need to know how much you want for it and if it's still available.
I'm in Mid Wales but could meet you somewhere on your way up to Cumbria.

Dear Issigonis Kid,
the engine is yours if he ever gets back to any of us, I have sourced another one locally to me.
Best wishes

Hello to all who enquired about the engine.

I've promised it to someone in the midlands, but since then the chap who's stored the engine for me said his hut roof had leaked and the engine showed rust: probably external and won't affect the internal, however I need to inspect it thoroughly to make sure it's still OK.

In the meantime the door and new windscreen surround have gone to a good home. Other parts still available.

Sorry for delay posting this: I've not found it easy to manage doing a reply on the MMOC site.

PS Rather than take leftovers to the recycling I'm going to drop off leftovers at the MMOC HQ in Derby. They can take what they want and then I'll take what they don't want to scrap.

Hope this posts successfully

If the 1098 engine is OK internally, I'm interested depending on cost and delivery etc. I'll private message you my number.
