With their increasing rarity the prices of 1275 units will only increase, so that old lump in the corner which was worthless (or very cheap) a few years back is now worth upwards of £500.

Time to stock up I think!

but you would have to spend that again and more to refurb it. Now if you advertised a rebuilt one for say £1250, you would get no takers.

people are generally weird!

——— that’s because people could not be assured of the quality of the rebuild, and would prefer to oversee their own build on an engine half the price. Not so weird !

the majority of people struggle to fit a set of spark plugs so rebuilding an engine...... lol.

ive just paid for a 1275 and a machine shop build. i know which i'd choose next time.

Your choice of course, if you trust someone else to do your rebuild, great. Some machining has to be done elsewhere but for me personally, not the rebuild. I like to control that side of things. We all have varying views in life, and a good thing too. It enables us to consider other view points and select the best !

It wasn't that long ago I scrapped a marina 1275 block because it wasn't worth doing anything with :(

I do need to sort my spare 1275 engine out though so I can put it back in the car it was originally from...

Reference Midget engine - If you can find one especially at a reasonable price.

Here is one on 'e' bay. Will be interesting to see what was the final bid.
