Phil

Could these be used on an uprated camshaft in a 1275 engine?

if so I will have them from you.

Regards

Dermot.

The answer is yes and I did use standard BMC 2A13 cam followers with a new 997cc Cooper camshaft as that was all there was back then - but if you are going to use a reground camshaft I would recommend that you use the cam followers from Mini Spares (link below) which are a bit longer to compensate for any grinding of the back of the camshaft. The only way you can get additional lift is by re-grinding a camshaft to take metal off the back of the lobe. Unfortunately it does mean the the rate of acceleration of the cam followers and valve train is greatly increased and can lead in some cases to failure of the valve train.
Performance camshafts are best made from a billet.

I have two new sets of the Mini Spares cam followers ready to fit into engines I am rebuilding in slow time so do not require the BMC 2A13 cam followers.

Phil
Thank you for the information on the followers, I will take your advice and opt for the minispares items.
The cam I'm looking at is here:

https://swiftune.com/parts-shop/camshaf ... aft-2.html

It is a billet camshaft but appears to offer torque low down where I want it, I will be running a 1330 with a big valve head, HIF44 and Oselli torquemaster inlet so should hopefully produce a nice torquey engine.

My build will probably differ from others as I'm looking for my power lower down the rev range rather than a screamer.

Hi Phil,

Would these be suitable for a standard 1098cc?

If so, I'll take them, if they're still available of course.

Thanks, Matt.
