Engine and Gearbox

Hello,

I sold my last Minor a few years ago and have been reminded by my in-laws that I still have an engine and gearbox laying around in their garage near Hadleigh in Suffolk.

I bought them in an unknown condition may years ago as spares, just in case, and thought I'd offer them for sale on here before putting them on ebay.

I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about them other than what you can see in the photos. Looks like a 12G202 head and a ribbed geabox, but other than that is anyone's guess!

Any offers/interest?

Hi Anthony,
I think what most will want to know is are you able to turn the engine, with the spark plugs out and using a starting handle or socket on the starter dog, in other words is it free or seized up??
Before they make an offer..........
Best wishes,
Mike.

You're quite right, unfortunately I'm not near enough to it to find out, but will endeavour to do so shortly.

The engine is a 1098cc unit.

The ribbed gearbox is for a 1098cc unit as well. The part number stamped on the first motion shaft will confirm the vehicle origin.

Thank you! Sorry for the delay - I missed the notification.
In laws are moving imminently so these are now going for free!

Perfect for my Green 64 Traveller (which came minus engine and gearbox) :D :D Thanks !!!! :D :D

The engine is correct for mine a 10 MA U H ------ type and built only around 200000 engines after my original engine would have been....just have to find a set of main studs, nuts and push rods now once its had its check over... though I do have a very low mileage 1275 Metro auto engine they may possibly be useable.... Phil will know?

Gearbox looks great too can now fill that gaping hole under the bonnet!

Thanks again Lord Anthony :D :D

The 1275cc Metro auto head studs/nuts will fit nicely and if they are 'A' Plus studs they can be torqued to 50lbf ft.
The 1275cc push rods are slightly longer than the 1098cc push rods but will fit and are useable.

A trick to overcome the differences in the length of the pushrods is to put the oblong multi hole lock washers (Pt No: 2A515) that usually reside on top of the rocker shaft pillars under the rocker shaft pillars. You may have to cut a corner of the washer to fit.
