A good period mod. I had a single H4 SU carb on my 948cc engine way back and it went well. A worthwhile improvement. With a benefit of a period air cleaner as well. The H4 installed on my Minor was coupled to a Janspeed fabricated inlet manifold. Similar inlet manifold is available from Maniflow.

Re: H4 SU Carb with air cleaner
A good price. This wont fit a standard diagonal mount inlet will it?
Would an adapter need making up?
Also am I right in thinking these were fitted as a pair to the works Cooper S cars?
If so would a single have much significance on 1098?

To me it is currently a very good price.
You would have to make a diagonal adapter mount to fit this to a diagonal inlet manifold but the Maniflow manifold is suitable for the H4.

They were fitted to the works Cooper 'S' as a pair.
A couple of years back I sold a pair of H4s on a Cooper 'S' inlet manifold. I should have kept them.
The single H4 will make a difference to a 1098cc engine.

Thanks Phil.
I think I'd make a plate for that price. I've got a nice Oselli inlet somewhere...
I saw the prices the twins are fetching now, I can't believe it really.

Some alloy manifolds have the two bosses for the H4 carb mount studs but are not drilled and tapped.

Oh I see what you mean. I have seen that before on a Peco unit that once passed through my hands, I did wonder at the time what the 'nubs' were for
