1962 glove box surround

Postby Stewart Walls » Fri May 14, 2021 4:26 pm

Does anybody know what surround I need for my glove box, the trim everybody sells is useless and nothing like what came off, mine is a P shape in cross section and approx 1cm on the flat part, it fits perfectly and is moulded round the corners.

I’m afraid I don’t know the answer to your question Stewart, but you might want to try posting this question in the “Technical” - “Other” forum area. You might get a quicker answer there.

I’m sure someone will be able to help you...I doubt if everyone browses the parts for sale area. Of course...someone may come along in a minute or two and answer your question here and prove me wrong :D

Good luck.

I agree, personally I use the 'New Posts' option (because Active Topics is broken and never shows anything), but it does help to post in an appropriate Forum. 'Parts for sale' is for people selling stuff, simple as that.

You need ADA 4061 and ADA 4062 these are available from all good BMC stockists if you go back in time about 40-60 years to when these were first made....

Your best bet is to try lots of breakers/dismantlers for large broken sections and cut them to length and superglue them..use a heat gun to soften the corners...jobs a good un......What Ive done on my conkers car is obtained lengths from a couple of period vintage scooters the material is perfect for the job and was probably from the same source/supplier in the early 1960's :D :D :D you must keep the sun off these items or they will degrade so sun cream factor 50 is recommended to preserve..

Or use the cheap Chinese trim u channel filled with gungy glue that is now supplied for this application

or you could commission a specialist company to make these for you but good luck with recovering your outlay...thats why they are not available new......

or use some of this and cut one edge down...
