Still waiting for my newton commercial interior,
What a coincidence I've got one! - someone left it in my lounge.
If you want it, make me an offer ;-)

Welding's not that difficult. Its one of those things where once you've got the hang of it you wonder what you were worried about previously!

Just get a load of off cuts of 1mm mild steel and start practising!

You'll be better off welding indoors- doesn;t upset the neighbours.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Yes - and grinding /sawing after 10pm is also not always appreciated.
Fortunately my garage is a long way from the house, and my neighbours are fabulous, so I can get away with a little bit more than average.

*Jealous* Welding is one of the very few things mine DON'T object to. Everything else is apparently far louder and infinitely more disturbing than the noise or their log splitting machine/chainsaw/petrol powered hedge trimmers/incessant outdoor chav parties etc etc. I DO hope she enjoys the valentines card I'm sending her next year...

My sympathies to you Andrew, I tend to stop after 9-9.30 ish and only grind in the garage. I also check with the neighbours to make sure its not a problem. Maybe you could build a big shed to use as a garage, might cut the noise down a bit.

Just a quick update on the MM

I have managed to get the drum off.

Found a relatively new (almost shiney) wheel cylinder in there!

I used a hub puller in the end to get it off

On the bright side- your cars kidney panel looks like it might clean up with a bit of wire brush on grinder work.

Time to break out the tools and start re-building that side as it looks like most of the rust has been cut out, just needs a clean up and new panels/ sections welded in.

I'd love to, but I'd rather not try my first welding on a very rare Dutch built Lowlight

The pickup thread made me want to start on the lowlight...

2 years since I posted any updates about her.
The rebuilt engine still turns over, valves are still ok.

I hope to get the welding started within 6 months from now, and get this baby rolling again!

Maybe I'll get it done before she turns 60.

Which leaves me 1,5 years till the 6th of December 2010

Just curious.....what colour interior have you got and are there any pics you could post me? We've got the 49 lowlight tourer and the boss doesn't want the red leather interior that I bought from Newton....she wants the original tan with coloured piping.
