Spot putty is sometimes called stop putty also. It's only used for filling very small blemishes. Unlike normal filler/putty which adheres to metal, stop/spot putty adheres best to paint. After a repair with filler & it's painted in primer, it's then that you use stop/spot putty.
Filler has a hardener added to it when mixing, spot putty is used straight from the tin.

Kevin,
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that it may incriminate me (both of my parents are from England - but that's not my fault)

Spot putty, blade putty, stop putty, brown putty, stopper, blemish corrector, 'stuff that sticks to paint', take your pick - generally its a last minute 'oops-I-missed-a-bit' fixer.

By the way, have you noticed that each discussion here is made up of one or two topic informers, a handful of translators, at least one topic diverter, a few jokers, and a laugher or two. Funny thing is, no one sticks to their position.

Don't forget the idiotic commenter, you know when all the useful advice is flowing there is usually some berk who comes out with a daft (and utterly wrong) suggestion that throws the advice sideways!!

I do try to stick to 'topic diverter' if I can, but like you suggest, we don't stick to our positions completely.................
