Summer website rally 23rd August at Leicester Branch Rally

I've got a few ideas for locations in the home counties.

But the first and always the hardest question is when.

Personally I prefer Saturdays because it allows me to be at church on Sunday and I know there are quite a few with a similar preference.

I guess we are talking late August or early September.

How about the Oxford bus museum.

There is an interesting collection of museums on a site in Luton just off the M1.

Some people expressed an interest in camping for the weekend I'm sure we could organise something if required.

I already have plans for a bluebell wood meet in the spring!!

We need input on

When? - Sat or Sunday? and dates.

Where?

Camping?

Suggested venues?

Will need to get cylinder number 4 working before I can go, but interested.

Maybe camp Friday night to free up Sunday for me too.

Late August sounds ok for me, although I'm not promising to get the new van on the road by then!
Have to do Trabi MOT, then Pickup MOT in August, and after that I want to start working on the Marina camper before taking it on a trans-continental adventure in Jan...

I have a suggestion for a Sunday afternoon.
The Great Cockrow Raiway. Situated just off the M25/M3 junction, this is a 7 1/2 in gauge sit on minature steam railway. There are up to 30 authentic replica steam engines, many of which are in steam on working days. The layout is extensive with tunnels, bridges and viaducts and is operated to BR practices with ex BR signalling equipment.
Provides an enjoyable afternoon for kids and big kids alike
Operates Sundays 1400 - 1700 May to October

Hi just spoke to the campsite owner [see my earlier post] and he says the museum isn't up to much.

Real Minor fan.

I was thinking about posting a thread to see if anybody fancied a run to the Oxford Bus Museum, perhaps taking in a tour around Oxford of some other Morris-related landmarks - however, for now I'm happy to go with the flow, I have really, really enjoyed all of the Moggie runs that I have been on so far (Bletchley, Sparkford, Hatfield House).

The most important thing is to get a date fixed so I've posted a 'poll' so that people can vote for their preferred date. Obviously there won't be a date that suits everyone so I suppose the most popular date wins, as per the last rally?

Pitstone museum is worth a visit. We planned to go there on the MM Rally, but it was shut due to the village fete.

Camping is free at Studham for the web site members on the rally, there is electrical hook up, loos and hot and cold water...
I would like some notice if possible, so not to book up other caravans/campers on the day in question...anyway the offer is open.....

I'd like to recommend the Stockwood centre at Luton it's free, has several collections and some nice gardens, a good teashop and good parking. In addition its not far (about 7 miles) from Studham for the campers. LINK perhaps we could find another venue for the afternoon?

How-about a barbecue at Keith's?

Sunday the 23rd of August is looking like a popular date.

As it happens this is the date of the Milton Keynes Car Show, I could phone the organiser and ask if we can have an allocated space. That way we will get all the benefits with none of the effort, (who knows they might even have clowns!).

It looks like a good show LINK It is £2 in advance for entry or £5 on the day. I will need to know very soon how many people want to go if we are going to do it. BUT there is a small problem you will need to be there for 9.30 or will be refused entry.

If we have a club entry it's £15 for 10 vehicles I'll ask them if we can have more room!

What's the verdict?
