It has happened in the "MG" world so maybe it could happen here too. Not an ideal situation but if the (potential) membership are not catered for then there is little else of choice....

I cannot see why additional Minor clubs would be divisive, and damaging to the MMOC. There are Clubs which specialize in aspects of ownership, which the official clubs cannot service or opt not too.
With the apparent demise of the MMOC modified and custom register/website, maybe its time for a fresh look at what owners would like to see a New club offer.

It seems from the various topics, insurance for young drivers, new members etc that there are a substantial number of younger Minor owners around, depending on what age you define as younger. If these people were to join the MMOC and their local branches and also turn up at AGMs then there opinions would begin to be represented and perhaps with a new generation of owners coming through the long term future of the MMOC would be assured.

the club scheme may be better for young drivers insurance
but we must entice the new and young members to stop the club from getting stale and boring

i am not a member anymore ( was for nearly 10 years ) the national rallys over the years have tended to be rather the sameish , well for me anyway and many others i have spoken to

i did join my local branch years ago, but the branch was like a geriatric ward, and was not morris minor orientated, so i joined the ESMMOC some would say a breakaway group, but it is a vibrant club

sorry but the magaine holds nothing of interest for me and tha at the moment is the only thing the club can offer me as a member

of course before the internet clubs only had local branches to meet up and voice opinions
and many clubs just kept meandering along
but now the world has changed and the club must change with it and hear the opinions of the website users

It feels like the club is on fire and someone just took out a fiddle.

aupickup is right. The world is changing so the www has had and will continue to have a big effect on clubs and the way they are run. Other things in the world are changing too; the cars are getting older, driving a classic of any sort in Britain is harder now than it used to be, expectations of clubs, events and magazines have been raised and so on, people want to do different things at rallies. Therefore any club has to evolve with the times... My heart fell when I read the list of attractions for this year's national; owls - how many times have we seen this? Saddos - dressed up as American pioneers? Please. A stately home? I'd rather go to a dragstrip, a circuit or watch paint dry!

here is a suggestion,

maybe we could move away from the 19th century methods of cheques and postal orders when it comes to spares and towards methods like paypal, bank transfer or maybe even cards. this would allow an almost instant payment to be made and parts dispatched the following day, this will allow people to rely on the club spares more than other companies, thereby creating more income for the club

this isn't just a singular club problem, having been a member of various clubs, it seems almost universal

Cheques are still around because not everyone has internet banking,Postal Orders, although now somewhat dated, are still a safe method of payment. Credit cards are not everyones favourite, I have been a victim of CC fraud so often that I find I'm becoming reluctant to give my details, despite all the assurances given by internet security, secure sites etc etc.
(Recently "I" went to Madrid and spent 575 euros on jewellery..... :o )
Perhaps we should consider cheques as an alternative to electronic wizardry, after all some ten million are still issued in the UK every year.

cheques are far to time consuming, have to send then wait to clear and most of us are lazy and cant be bothered to write a cheque and send when its so easy by internet

paypal is very good

also if you pay by credit card rather than bank debit card it is safer and guarenteed if the goods are faulty

watching paint dry is far more interesting than the nationals

i went to most a few years back but got so fed up with CLOWNS ha ha i dont think so

yes santa pod, etc sounds more like fun

stately homes well ok but really not what a lot of folk want, very limited in attractions at most of these places, but then like the good old club they are probably the cheapest places, that sums up the national a cheap as chips as they can get
