Of the 1000s ( and 1,000000s!) of Minors that survive....I've ONLY received FIVE chassis/body number combinations!!!
Come on all you Minor enthusiasts, surely you can do better than THIS?!

Remind me, where is the FULL body number stamped on the car?

Re: Morris Minor cab/body numbers
1952 Series MM, FBE 11/165571, Body no. 76014, RHD, Home Market, Empire Green
1968 Traveller, MAW5/1233082, Body no. 195507, RHD, Home Market, Delux, Trafalgar Blue. Good old patriotic colours!
It is over 40 years since I had 65 FUU. I am afraid that I cannot remember trivia such as where pieces of masking tape were stuck.

At the top of the n/s engine bay bulkhead....should see something like;
(x ZXXXXXX RXXXXX x) - may also have an additional BMF plate too.
Nos also repeated on the "NMP'" plate under the n/s/f bumper iron.
Need the "Z" codes & cars original colour too please.
Initial findings are that "Z3XXXX" body codes are 1098cc's.....although YET to establish why some have "BMF" plates(?).
Thanks
Chris

Would you let me know their "Z" cab codes as well, please?
Chris
PS; on your "FUU" Engineers' van, can you confirm that it had a bit of tape on the n/s engine bay bulkhead covering the "Battery Master Switch" hole?

Re: Morris Minor cab/body numbers
For me it's :
1970 Traveller : MAWD1285542F - Body n° : Z36054 (big space) 21454 - RHD Home market deluxe
(converted to LHD May 2009)
First registered 6th October 1970 (DPK 558J now AB-338-TD)
Original and present colour : Almond Green
What is a BMF plate ? what does it look like ?
There's a LHD (original) 1953 convertible in my local garage - will drop in and try to get details (if owner OK)
If I see any Froggy Moggies will try and get details.
Regards,
Michael

Think we're getting somewhere....although yours should have a SIX digit cab number.....I have a 16XXX on a 55/6 Trav!
I've been quoted a '55 saloon & a '57 4dr with a (separate) BMF plate. ie (x Z12345 R12345 x)(x BMF 12345 x)
BMA = Early S2 Civvy LCVs
BMB = ALL S2/Early S3 GPO Engineer's vans - "BMB" plate in the middle, thus; (x Z12345 (x BMB 1234 x) P1234 x)
BMC = " " " " " Mailvans
BMD = ?
BME = * '57 2dr.
BMF = Minor Saloons?
****************Just notice a '57 2dr with a "BME" plate - was "BMD" ever used, if so, what on?*****************
Very interesting AND confusing!
All help greatly appreciated
Chris

Re: Morris Minor cab/body numbers
I'll have another look at the body plate to see if there are any numbers hidden under paint.
Will get back to you,

Thanks for update...though ANY chance of their cab codes...ie their "Z" cab number prefix; NO idea of the MM, but the Traveller should be "Z34XXX" - ie. a 1098cc.
Took me 25yrs to gather 300 LCV chassis/cab combinations...I'll be long gone if I have to wait another 25yrs for non LCVs!!
If I don't get at the VERY least 100 combo's by Winter, I won't continue, shame because there DOES seem to be a pattern!
Having a clear out of my LCV's, just have so much parked up rotting away!
Cheers
Chris

Forgot to say that there is an alloy tag fixed to the bottom left corner of the identification plate which reads : EX 22697morrisminorbzh wrote:Went down to my local garage this afternoon :morrisminorbzh wrote:There's a LHD (original) 1953 convertible in my local garage - will drop in and try to get details (if owner OK)

Re: Morris Minor cab/body numbers
Aha....
So ANOTHER way to tell a genuine split screen "Tourer" is with a "BMT" plate...?
There's STILL the mystery of whether "BMD" was ever used.....Danish PO "Domi" vans perhaps?
PLEASE keep these wee numbers coming!
Thanks
Chris

It ALL helps, could you get the "ZXXXXX XXXXX" number too please?
Trying to establish a cab code pattern FIRST...hopefully figure out year/type codes....
Z1XXXXX = 195? - 1955/6
Z2XXXXX = 1955/6 -1961/2
Z3XXXXX = 1961/2 - 1971

Re: Morris Minor cab/body numbers
Just managed to get the Z number off the NMP plate the black French registered Tourer here in Rennes.
It reads : Z12951 then an A or 4 127094
Hope that adds more to your enquiry.
Regards Michael.

Re: Morris Minor cab/body numbers
Thanks to you both!!!
Bit baffled by the "4" or "A" body number prefix on the blk tourer - could it be an "R"? Dare say it'll become obvious in time!
Daisy May SHOULD be a "BME" - is she a late 948cc or early 1098cc?
At some point will need a list of chassis nos change points...
Thanks again, PLEASE keep these numbers coming!!!

Re: Morris Minor cab/body numbers
Yes sorry about the A or 4 or R - the NMP plate is extremely dirty and is placed under a trumpet like horn, there are two on this Tourer. Were export models fitted with different horns? They look original.
