FIRST MINOR
I HAVE JUST BOUGHT MY FIRST MINOR ITS A WHITE CONVERTIBLE REGISTRATION 478 CXK,COULD SOME ONE HELP ME OUT AND LET ME KNOW IS THIS A GENUINE CONVERTIBLE,THANKS BILLY

Not really possible to say just from a registration number.
Depending upon the year the chassis number will confirm if it is a genuine convertible.
Series MM's and Series 2's had a chassis number F (For Morris) A (4dr saloon) or B (2dr saloon) or C (Tourer/Convertible) L(Traveller from 1953)
After mid 1958 MAS3 (4 dr saloon, MA2S (2 dr saloon, MAT3 (convertible) and MAW3(Traveller) all followed by a D if deluxe spec was fitted.

Thanks for your quick reply I will find out the chassis number first thing in the morning(left the log book in my workshop)I hope it is genuine,the car is superb,I was a bit lucky with it to be honest I went to look at a mk1 escort with my friend and the seller had this minor stored in the corner of the workshop under cover, it had been restored but never put on the road, I made a offer of £2500.00 which he accepted,I got it home on wednesday got it running within 1 hour re-commisioned the brakes, took it for mot and passed straight away,cannot say much for my friend he bought the mk1 escort after me telling him not too,that got delivered on wednesday as well,only for me to find out there is more filler than metal in the car(should have bought a minor) plus he spent double on his,Thanks Billy

Should have said in my earlier post - welcome to the Forum! Hopefully you'll find us all very chatty and more than willing to share what we know (or sometimes don't) with anyone who needs to know. If you have a question - it's probably already been asked by someone and you can search the forum for the answers you need.
Sounds like you got a very nice car - I would always pick the Morris over the Escort
