Minor Million London Show

The London Classic Car show at ExCel Centre among the Classic Rolls Royces ,Bentleys and lamborghini was a
Morris Minor Million it was the 1000,000 that came up for auction about 5 years ago.

Looks like its up for sale again at Brooklands in March

obviously the person who advertised this car, had been drinking considerably. not worth even half that amount. £7.5K tops.

Worth only about £15000 because its only in average condition

Yes, but it is the one and only millionth Minor 1000, and has a decent number plate to suit it. Such a unique example will always command a premium.

Though you are right in that they could have chosen a better colour, I wonder how many have been repainted in something else. Do any survive in something other than pink??...........sorry lilac..........

Apparently, they were originally going to be painted silver, which would have looked smart, but the guy in charge of the painting at BMC at the time said it would all flake off within 6 months.

I recall the late '60s/early '70s silver Fords such as the Cortina 1600E had the same problem.

It was looking shiny at the show - I didn't think the show was great - only one hall - lots of high end, high performance cars if that's your thing.[frame][/frame]

Chipper you are right the 1600 E and the corsair suffered in silver and saluki bronze and also purple velvet on the 1300e.I think the problem documentation by Mike Foster regarding silver paint was in overseas climates.

An interesting thread. I don't own a Million, but over the years have seen quite a few. I've never heard them described as pink. As regards Excel, it's a dump of a place that's dismal enough to ruin any show. Bring back Earls Court!

I am just back from the show. I thought the Million car was of a good condition but far from £26k value. Even the staff at the Brooklands stall said it was at a very high price. My son said the seats were very worn and the front Morris Minor Chrome bonnet badge needed to be painted. Good luck to the seller on the 7th March.
I thought the show was worth the trip for us 850 mile round trip for the weekend. We spent 4 hours at the show would have been good to have had a Morris Minor stand. There was a Morris 8 Military wireless car from 1935 which was great.

Last time this car was up for auction about 4 years ago it was also "set to fetch £30k" (according to the press) but the bidding stopped at around £8,000 and it didn't reach the reserve price so was not sold. Setting a high "guide price" at auction always draws a lot of interest and no doubt attracts more bidders, but it will be interesting to see whether it actually sells this time.
