FULL and FRANK CONFESSION
Well - it’s my 50,000 post on the forum…. So here goes for a Full and Frank confession. Yes, shock horror – I used to have ‘peaks’ on my headlights… When my Mother put her back out and couldn’t drive her Minor anymore, I kind of inherited it at age 18. First step was some lovely Minor 1000 stripes up the lower sides -and a light bar to carry my two Rally lamps (removed when not rallying) – and yes PEAKS on the headlights…. I thought (very wrongly) that in misty/foggy weather (common in those days) the peaks would stop stray light shining upwards. They did not. Anyway – not long after, I was belting along an A road towards a right angle blind bend to the right, and just as I started to turn the corner a cow came rushing out of the hidden side road - right in the inside middle of the bend – hotly pursued by farmer Giles with stick. Despite desperate measures by me, and the cow – I caught it with the right front of the car on it’s hind quarters –fortunately at reduced speed. The farmer was irate – I was going too fast – I was irate –you shouldn’t have been chasing the cow onto a main road. And then I realised that the only damage to my car was that the peak and rim had been torn off – and the poor cow had a huge chunk of meat carved out of it’s hind quarter by the peak. I was physically sick at the side of the road – being a vegetarian I can’t stand any harm to an animal, and this poor thing was bleeding profusely and bellowing in pain. Farmer removed the animal, and I drove back home to remove the other peak and banish it to the bin, and to find a replacement rim for the headlight. So – that’s why I am so against the ghastly peaks – they serve no useful purpose, look trashy – and are dangerous to animals – and I dare say humans. Here’s to the next 50,000 posts – and I’m sorry if I sometimes upset people on the forum –but some do rather ‘ask’ for it!
Kindest regards and happy Minoring to all . Roy

You never have to justify an opinion, but it's a wonderful insight as to how your opinion was formed. I couldn't agree with you more. Keep up the good work, I'm raising a glass to your next 50,000 posts
Re: FULL and FRANK CONFESSION
You peaked too soon
You're a true legend Roy and I have benefited immensely from your vast font of knowledge, as have many others. I'm glad I've been around for this momentous occasion and look forward to draining you of more information in the future - happy 50,000th

Re: FULL and FRANK CONFESSION
Well done on your achievement Roy and sorry to hear of the circumstances that led to your realisation of the safety (or lack thereof) of peaks. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me and other forum users, much appreciated.

Happy 50,000th Roy, many thanks for access to your vast knowledge, it's something you can't get from books
Re: FULL and FRANK CONFESSION
Very interesting tale Roy - I can see how your intense dislike of headlamp peaks has come about
You've converted at least one person.... i'll leave the headlamp peaks off when the restoration of my Traveller is complete

Re: FULL and FRANK CONFESSION
I couldn't resist so well done Roy and I concur with all that's been said and to add that I have many times purchased items from your good self and they have always been quality and cheap in price,[ postage as well] But I do have one confession and that is to say I'm afraid I have headlamp peaks ...... but they are on my Royal Enfield and my Bonneville .....but not on my tourer!

Re: FULL and FRANK CONFESSION
I did not know you were a veggie, I thought I remember in a previous post of yours you mentioning about having sausage, bacon and egg off the shovel cooked in the firebox
