They are different from the ones on later cars, as I'm sure you know. The drain at the bottom is in the middle of the body, not the inboard side of it.

The seals should be the same, though, so getting the DIY kit that Declan came up with might be a good bet. I've not looked into doing that job so don't know if anyone is currently selling complete kits of suitable components. If you find anyone selling them, could you let me know?

Thanks

Try ESM because I think they refurb them. I met a chap outside there one day from South Africa and he had a bag full which he was going to have refurbed. Give them a ring!

Thanks Colin have given them a ring & they do recon shocks on an exchange basis & as mine are from a '52 mog I wouldnt get mine back & it would be a newer version with the drain on the side & I want to retain the originals.

Looking at the price, lees than GBP 30, and no list of spare parts for it, it is only the job.
Or am I wrong?

I seem to remember being told that ESM "do them upstairs"!! so I assume this is at their works. Must say I cannot see why they cannot overhaul yours, even if its as a special deal. Try some arm twisting because they are normally very helpful.
All you have to do is attach labels etc.

That's excellent service at a very good price. Did they give you a break-down of what they did to the dampers?
