Have a look at this - first image on page.
Ray Newell's book Original Morris Minor shows very similar plug caps on a high-headlamp S/MM (page 31).

Srevice Parts book for the MM lists X32539 for the spark plug adaptor and that converts to a Champion number of A548, as shown in the pic below...

Looks like the original design was for a thumbscrew cap, a copper tubing crimp to the end of the ignition lead and a copper cored cable.

Palacebear is showing the Champion H.T.C. version. Not sure when they came in but not listed in my book.

Just had a look in the BL Heritage book and it shows a pre-production MM with the same plug cap arrangement as I mentioned. I'm guessing that the car is shown in 1947 or early 1948?
