simple question. Are the earlier door hinges interchangable with the later type?
Thanks

Re: door hinges
I can only find a change of part number not a change of hinge.
For example:-
Hinge top R/H was APA107.............now ALA2728.
If it only a change of part number the hinges will be the same.
I am happy to be corrected if the above is not right.

Re: door hinges
They'll fit but the Lowlight hinges were visually different. Not significantly enough that my wife noticed.

Rob
Could you please post a photo of the Low Light hinges so we can see the differences.

Re: door hinges
Thanks for the replies, just to clarify the hinges I was comparing one comes from a 1954 series 2 and the other from a much later traveller.
They are similar but not identical. I will be using the later hinge as it hasn't been (butchered) by a previous owner

Re: door hinges
When I was in manufacturing we had a simple rule: change of function, form, or fit = changed part number. Reversing that suggests that a changed part number will equate to a slightly different hinge. No doubt someone will come along and relate how the same item had 26 different part numbers, but I stick by my experience. Note that a different form (shape, material etc) can still do the same job and be a direct replacement for the other part with no overall effect.

hi to Stevey
Thanks for that. My problem is the series 2 hinge has been over bored so it may be difficult to re pin it. Thats why I want to use the hinge from a later car. I don't think there will be a problem unless anyone knows different. Many thanks to one and all

Re: door hinges
Would the ones on the extreme LHS of the CW catalogue page be the MM ones ?

Re: door hinges
The hinges shown on the left of the link page are the rear door hinges for a 4 door saloon.

Re: door hinges
Time to re-pin my drivers door top hinge and I'd like to prepare one before changing it....but...in my shed I've found four hinges that might work numbers are B2F , B10 , NP10 , and a set of aluminium ones ( the back of the d/s top is marked NP10 ) but not sure about using aluminium?
Can anyone shed any light on these...are they different ? they don't look it ?
In the car , the hinge is marked BL1 .
John
EDIT
Looking at the photos,it appears that the A frame side of the hinges are numbered as well , B1M , B9 , NP8 , NP9 .
EDIT 2
From further searches it appears that there are two thicknesses of hinge ( early and late ) , and the numbers are casting numbers....but what about using aluminium hinges??
