How to set the bonnet side badges

Hi

My friends , how you set(hang) the Morris ''Minor 1000'' badge to bonnet side , there are no Screws , it is clip model , how you set them ? Any pic have you ?

You will need two spire clips ( for each badge ) which push on from the inside of the bonnet. If you use a small socket , you can push the clip over the "stud " part of the badge that goes through the holes in the bonnet.

or cut ends off ball point pen insert,and push plastic tube onto peg,did mine like that twenty years ago,still there

Yes, or any similar size plastic tubing........good news is that this can't rust! Can't remember what I used on mine, something suitable I had lying around.................

You may be able to get some plastic 'top-hat' fixings. Here in the UK they cost a few pence each and will afford rust protection. They push into the holes from the outside. There will be a very small gap between the badge and the bonnet but this should reduce the build-up of dirt behind the badge.

or a dab of mastic behind which would also seal up the hole to stop rust

Mine are held on by a lump of silicon sealant on the back. (Previous owner’s work)

But it looks horrible and I’ll fix it when I have time.
