1960 Convertible "Maurice The Morris"
Not really a restoration, more just getting things done. I drove 30 miles home with almost no brakes. They have now been done. The rear gearbox mount only has one bolt, not four. Some welding to the chassis rails in hat area required. I am now waiting for my tame welder to be ready. Trouble is the master cylinder will have to come out, so brake bleeding again. The carpets were original and not much more than dust, so new ones for Christmas. Apart from the above jus general cleaning required. The whole car was absolutely filthy. A few photos attached.

Re: 1960 Convertible "Maurice The Morris"
Had to re-do foot well side panels as SWEMBO declared the red to be too red. Actually I think she was right. New panels now made and covered. New parcel shelf to match. Photo attached of replacement captive bolts for gearbox rear mounting cross member fixing. Inside chassis rails laced with underseal and gearbox cover panel replaced today.

Another Cowley blunder...W.S.E. they'd use 2dr body id number tags....
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

He’s ok all the time he takes the tablets, maybe he’s run out!
Re: 1960 Convertible "Maurice The Morris"
is white the original colour? where it has crazed under the bonnet is there another colour underneath? there's probably more white Minors on the road now than Morris ever built - mine was Peat

Re: 1960 Convertible "Maurice The Morris"
I have an Old English White Convertible of similar age. I cannot pretend that it is very "original" though.
Originally it was black. And a Saloon! I agree - a lot of Minors, particularly the Convertibles, have ended up in Old English White.
I assume the semaphore slots have been filled in on this one at some stage? It's a very nice looking car . I don't rely on the semaphores on mine as it has flashing indicators, but they are still there - one of the few original things that DO remain!

Chris
Your car should have had a body id tag prefixed BMT (Tourer), however, from the late '50s - up until approx 1961- the production line appears to have run out of these BMT plates, subsiquently, BME (948cc 2dr) substituted.
Tourer's only reached 5 figures at 75k, whereas 2drs at 511k....
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

That's interesting
Re: 1960 Convertible "Maurice The Morris"
Making a start on the carpets.
makes the sill cover look awful, but it is not as bad as the pic. suggests. I know it should be taken off for this job, but with no ramp available at the moment and lack of time I managed to loosen them via the screws along the outside edge sufficiently to tuck carpet underneath.Re: 1960 Convertible "Maurice The Morris"
Just seeing how things fit.
