Oblongs & Circles

Post by POMMReg »

Another mystery to solve....not seen it discussed before...like to add this to the id booklet for a definitive answer.
Concerns the boxing panel that forms the inner sill's, either side of the floorpan.

LCVs have an oblong shaped hole front & back, those with seatbelt anchorages...Zzzz

What do the rest of the range have?
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

My AP Traveller has oblongs each end - both before and after I replaced the boxing panels. Never seen a minor, or an image of a minor, with anything else, apart from amateurish welded patches covering the holes.

Thanks Mark..no 3 circle cut-outs between?

Unique to AP assembled Traveller's?

I know 2dr's & Tourer's have a series of "circles", although 4drs seem to vary...any further imput much appreciated.
LCVs with seatbelt anchorage points don't seem to be "handed", as grommet's also at the front, anyone please confirm this?

All my Travellers and two door saloons have had the oblongs at each end and circles in the middle. I can't recall the four door, that was too many years ago. I would describe the oblong as more of a rectangle with radiused / rounded corners, but whatever we call it, we get the gist.

On the subject of circles, does anyone know the purpose of the hole drilled in the middle of the front bumper 'C-shaped' overrider support pieces?

My query based upon seeing some CKD LCVs with 3 circles between the rectangles(thanks simmitc), although whether replacements for rotted out sill's - one deffo a converted saloon cab - I'm not sure?

Do CKDs, Cowley & Abindon builds differ, or is it anything to do with a vehicles' age?

There’s an analogy here to a blackadder episode about Dr Johnson’s dictionary. He finishes this work of art only to have suggested to him more words that he had not included! :D

……..just waiting now for someone to ask for tips on fitting the Contrafibularity sprocket :D

Err, you do need to be a bit of a Blackadder fan for this one.

It's a word much used in these parts.

I think that we ought to look for a rail with diamond shaped cutouts just so that we can get a set. Oh no, what about hexagonal, octagtonal...

Only ONE way to get numbers....

......SHOUT, SHOUT, SHOUT again...Eeeerh..

Think it was an experimental binary code;

□ ○○ ○○ □ = 948cc 4drs
□ ○○○ □ = 1960 LCV
□ □ = 1098LCV/AddPk Traveller?

How about setting up a specialist "Research" dept. within the MMOC, long overdue, missing SO much!
