HT lead routing and spark plug connectors

Post by KeithL »

I am trying to establish:

a) if the 1098cc engine in the Minor 1000 originally had straight or 90 degree spark plug connectors,

b) what are the correct lengths for the spark plug leads, and

c) what is the correct routing for the spark plug leads.

Does anyone know? I've looked at a number of photos and both type of connectors are shown with various routings being used. As always it is hard to establish what is original.

Hmm...originality. I suspect that cars of that era didn’t come out of the factory as identical as modern cars. Bits that they had to hand got used.
There are some really puzzling cars in the baby Austin world, with some very odd A30/A35 hybrids.

My 1970 Minor 1000 has been in my family since new and I am fairly certain ( as certain as I can be ) that the plug connectors and HT lead routing are ‘ as original ‘..
I try and take a picture tomorrow ( if the rain stops ) and post it on the forum.
