Throttle Guard

Hi All
Quick question about the Throttle Guard.
Basil, a Series II, doesn't have one, nor are there any mounting holes for the bolts! Yet another thing not quite right from the rebuild 20 years ago....
Since it's documented in the Manual in Section B, I'm assuming that they were fitted from the beginning.
So, is the guard fitted below or above the parcel shelf, which of course is a non removable metal one being a Series II.
Not having one, I've no idea what size they are, but my thoughts are it goes above, to stop junk on the shelf fouling the throttle.
Am I right?

The guard does indeed go above the shelf and having just compared with my s2 I think your yellow ring is just where one of the holes would have been. Reassembling mine it’s a bit of a puzzle which holes are original and which added by previous owners and working out what should go through which one. I think I’ll just put blanking grommets over the spare ones.

On the inside, that blemish looks like a weld spot.

Basil has so many odd and weird things about him. This afternoon I fitted a pair of rear bonnet buffers; none fitted and no holes either...

Just to update everyone, because there's not many things worse than leaving a Forum thread hanging unresolved after people have taken time to respond....

So I added a throttle guard to the list of Basil Bits that the Mrs could select from for my Birthday.

Here's a couple of pics from before I fitted it.

On the interior, you can see that when he was restored some 20- ish years ago, they actually welded up the mounting holes, whilst at the same time drilling a hole to put a bolt through (right of photo).

Under the bonnet, you can see that the random bolt was for an Earth Cable. I have no idea what circuit(s) it's the earth for, because with it disconnected, I couldn't find anything that failed to work.
But Earths being what they are on such cars, I reconnected it anyway to one of the new bolts for the throttle guard and removed the gash bolt. The Red marker dot is one of the 2 holes to be drilled for the guard mounting.
The old bolt hole, and the other random hole seen in the interior photo are going to be filled with 2-part putty to seal them up. I've got several on the car to close off.
