Upper LH Trunnions

Post by Tootall »

Hi everybody,

I know I'm not the only person with this problem but my Minor has been off the road for 2 months now, after failing its MOT on upper LH trunnions.

I have lower trunnions (LH & RH) and upper RH but apparently no-one has upper LH in stock.

Sounds like one small engineering concern supplies all the Minor parts suppliers, so everyone is in the same boat.

Unless a member knows where I can buy an upper LH kit?

I wanted to take the old girl to the Goodwood Revival but no dice there, unless she's got suspension and a fresh ticket.

Does anyone have a kit they can sell? Or point me towards a supplier with some in stock?

Cheers...

PS Yes, I know that my Minor is old enough not to 'need' an MOT - except it has a 1275 engine and discs, gas dampers etc, so I'd say it has been substantially altered from manufacturer's spec and does need one. Plus, it failed on work suspension - so having an MOT is still a good use of £50!

Have you tried the owners club spares?
ESM have them listed on their website.

Is it the whole trunnion you need, or are just the bushes worn?

I found this Pin & Bush kit listing on Fleabay

I know ESM site search is not the most user friendly, but where have they got them? I can only see Lower RH and LH kits listed...

CW and David Manners are both listing as Out of Stock.

I for one cannot believe that "no-one has these in stock". There must be 20 or so Minor specialists who advertise in the club magazine alone. Have you honestly rung or emailed all of them?
I have never needed anything for my Minor which I couldn't get hold of fairly easily. Ju
Just keep trying would be my best suggestion.

If it has failed on trunnion wear the swivel threads must be also worn. I would suggest that you fit a L/H swivel and trunnion kit and be back on the road soonest.

As above - try club spares.

Here is a L/H upper kit:- https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MORRIS-MINOR ... Sw-A1dHKEy

There are several available on 'e' bay.

My apologies, I didn't look on the actual website to check,I bought a full kit from them not long ago and no mention was made of low stock.
As I said try the club spares the club may have some in stock.
Or failing that try Ebay.
