Interior Light Wiring

Post by alawrence10360 »

Need some help
I was fitting an electric washer pump today and inadvertently pulled/ disconnected a brown and black wire which is connected to the passenger side courtesy light switch
It appeared to be running the length of the dash from left to right under the speedo
I’m guessing it connects into the same circuit as the drivers switch but I can’t find the female connector it fits in to
Taking off the drivers side access panel on my car is a bit of a chore and I appreciate that my wiring isn’t necessarily going to be the same as anyone else’s but maybe someone can tell me where physically on the loom the connection is
Thanks

Does it connect directly to the back of the door switch. The switch can be unscrewed from the door jamb and pulled out. I think that wire is hot ... best to disconnect the battery ... your light may come on if you ground that wire. Sorry, not sure where the other end connects too right now ...

It’s the negative return from the courtesy light
One end is connected to the door switch and the free end will eventually get to the light if Ivan find the female connector

You've answered your own question really. You'll probably have to do some dismantling - although removing the speedo might be sufficient if you still can having blocked off one of the securing screws. Also, try to find the other wire - which is the same colour - by looking up through the large access hole beneath the drivers side glovebox. The stray wire you've found doesn't enter the loom. It simply plugs into a double connector underneath the dashboard where there will be 2 other wires of the same colour. From memory, one runs to the RH side door switch and the other runs up the windscreen pillar to the light itself.

I thought so
I’m not looking forward to this one
I keep looking at the garage door
Perhaps it’s connected itself
Or maybe be the Minor elves have been in overnight and fixed it
I think I will have one more cup of tea ..

Incredible
After 2 hours last night of swearing, cramp and eye strain the first thing I see when I look this morning is the missing connector !!
