Have just heard from a friend in Denmark who has bought an early 48 Tourer that needs some restoration and has a few parts missing.
If you can help please let me know.
The parts he initially needs are
The Lucas L482 rear lights - lenses dont matter as I have them but a body or two is needed.
The front screen interior metal trim
Please either phone me on 07831 574495 or email bryan.gostling@mmoc.org.uk if you can help

Re: PARTS FOR 48 LOWLIGHT TOURER WANTED
That would be QUITE a find. Did you mean "early 49" Tourer, I presume?
best, jv.
Did he happen to send the serial number? I know the Series MM Register would like to know about this one!
best, jv.
I have two Minors in upstate New York. One is the 1961 Traveller my dad bought new that year in London, where I was born. It's had a hard life but is still running cheerfully at 54K miles. The second is the oldest Minor confirmed to survive in North America, a LHD high-light Tourer built in April 1949. It's a total basket case, but will be restored over the coming years.

Wow! I think I vaguely recall knowing that existed, delighted it's still around. And of course definitely a 1949 car!sparesman wrote: ↑Sat Oct 24, 2020 2:06 pm Actually turns out to be a saloon and chassis no is 5528 so 28th LHD. There is something about it on here in 2011 viewtopic.php?t=42114
Do we know when the very first LHD examples came off the line?
The first 'USA' high-lamp car wasn't until Jan 1949 (or perhaps last week of December for the prototype, can't recall).

Re: PARTS FOR 48 LOWLIGHT TOURER WANTED
Thank you for your message. Thomas will be pleased if you can find it. He hopes to have the car finished ready for the NMMK annual camping holiday which will be near him in Denmark in 2022. He is very much a Minor man so your old car is in good hands.
