Tragedy 1967.
The Stockport Air Crash in 1967, just 6 miles short of Manchester Airport, is never forgotten in this area, 72 people who lost their lives are remembered by their memorial at Hopes Carr. There are many references and pictures online, but one is of a Minor Traveller that didn't make it into preservation. RIP all, and huge respect to all whose lives were changed forever that fateful Sunday morning.
