Must be before Xmas when we last had vehicle details via this forum, about 30 via fb....this medium does work for number crunchers like us.
Further investigations uncovered it was an inside job!!

Facebook does not have a proper indexing & searching system, and because it's algorithm is optimised to grab attention by throwing what it thinks are things that "you may be interested in" on your feed, it is easy to lose useful posts altogether. That and the tidal wave of attention seeking mush from cretins who want likes, are the main reason why it is not a suitable replacement for this forum. I agree it has a place, but as an additional communication channel for the MMOC.

Personally, I'd like to see the MMOC commit to maintaining this forum, as it is an invaluable source of information that has built up over more than a decade.

I am delighted to report that as a result of the above comments, a statement from the Directors confirms that this Messageboard will continue to be supported by the Club for as long as people continue to use the Messageboard. Spread the word and get recruiting :D

That's awesome!

I wonder if there is a platform that allows messages to be posted to here, facebook & say twitter or whatsapp simultaneously? Would make Club announcements more manageable.

Simon and Garfunkel summed it up in the lyrics of the song the boxer.

That's good news.
Whenever I can, without being OTT about it, in my responses on fb I try to refer people over to here .
But the questions aren't usually technical enough.

There are such things, but if you thing about it, they will just drag everything down to the lowest common denominator.
They're used to make posts simultaneously on fb, Snapchat, Twitter etc..., but that sort of 'look at my Breakfast', 'here I am on the bus' etc., sort of post isn't compatible with messages boards, thank heavens... :o

Whilst I am sure that in time, evolution will see to it that if newborn babies are not connected to the Internet, as soon as born, they will die, for me it is not a life support system. It is simply a tool, though the words Intermess and planned obsolescence (Surely an anathema to any Minor owner) often spring to mind. I am pleased that this forum seems viewable from any browser; long may this be the case.

As to Facebook or Twitter (Known now as Meta & X :-? ) and a whole host of other similar things, that seem to do the same kind of thing (If phones had gone that way, we'd now have a dozen each in our homes), I leave them alone. I was once persuaded to try Facebook and recall wondering, as I filled out the boxes, who the hell was interested. After a while, once I saw how it developed, it all seemed rather trivial and I cancelled it (I was getting bombarded with so and so is doing this or that and was sure it was only a matter of time before I got "I'm on the toilet"). I was also amazed at how many people advertised, to burglars everywhere, that they were going away for two weeks :o . I am also puzzled by so called Tik Tok influencers; who says they are influencers? Some people need to get a life.

Each to their own but I think that for a specialised thing, such as Morris Minors, a forum is best. We don't need to involve the likes of Zuckerberg or Musk in it.

There are 2 things worse than FB - TikTok & Instagram. Instagram wasn't so bad at first, but is now more or less FB for those who need more pictures than words.
TikTok combines the worst of FB & YouTube, it makes FB look positively highbrow, it really is the pits.

Interestingly, when I took one of the Travellers for an MOT, the tester said that the brakes were better than on many modern cars he checks :D

:D :tu1: :D Excellent - we have already lost the Morris LCV Forum :-( Please do keep posting folks it is so much easier to see or find threads that are of interest on the forum! (By the way is it possible to have a 'like' button as I often appreciate the posts but am not able to reply at the time and then forget to!)

I had a guy this morning, came to buy my Series II. Spent 10 minutes waving his arm trying to find the seat belt, then asked how you engage the other wiper speeds.
I told him not to buy it.
I'm glad he didn't get as far as asking how to make the trafficators flash.
OK, I know that you can these days, but I'm sure you get my drift.

S11 I went to look at didn't have heated front seats nor climate control, I love Morris Minor's by the way.🤣🤔
