Suggestions received please
I purchased an Evolution cam from Minispares and the cam has slotdrives, my new pump has pindrive...
How to solve the problem ?
I suppose I have to purchase a new cam with pindrive ? For example Kent MD 266, if it has pindrive, of course ?
Have all 1098cc pindrive cam ?
I haven´t found an oil pump slotdrive as I have seen, without machining of the engine block ?
Regards
Liselotte

Re: Camshaft-oil pump problem
There are ways of overcoming the difference in oil pump drive.
You do not have to machine the block.
Most if not all camshaft now sold have the slot drive.
You do not have to buy a pin drive camshaft.
You can with most oil pumps change the drive shaft to suit the cam drive. Use a shaft with a Woodruff key for security of the rotor if possible.
Buy an adapter to mate the pump drive to the camshaft.
Fit a spacer between the oil pump and block to get the right fitment.
Change the oil pump to suit the camshaft.
The original 1098cc engine has a pin drive oil pump as did the 803cc and 948cc engines.
Dependent upon what pump is used you may have to drill and tap another securing hole for the pump.
There are oil pumps that have the correct number of holes located in the right place for use in a small bore blocks with a slot drive camshaft.
The oil pump in the link below should fit but may need a spacer. Check with the seller before purchase.
