Good News

Post by RogerRust »

We have been asked to have a slot in "Branch Avenue" at the National next year. We can have three cars on display. More details later when I've read the sheet. 8)

Also we can enter the "Branch Challange" to build a raft and race it at the National Rally. Once again more later. :D

I'm a bit busy on Sundays so I will scan the sheets and post them tomorrow all being well.

Does that mean we are now officially a branch?

Hopefully this will provide the perfect opportunity to promote the website and the Club as a whole, and therefore I would encourage everyone that attends to 'circulate' as they say, and spread the word  :D

So, is everyone who is on this message board a member of the virtual branch??

I still think its a very good idea to join your local branch as well, the more Moggy contacts (and friends!) the better.
Cheers John - all comments IMHO

Could not agree with you more John when it comes to local branches, also at the GM it was announced that 2 more are hopefully starting one in Worthing and one in East Surrey.
Cheers

That's great news about becoming a true branch - shoes real acceptance of the community on here. :)

.....and if I remember correctly, Kevin (Orkney) was looking into the possibility of starting one in Orkney.

I don't think we were accepted as a fully card carrying branch, but at least we are begining to be recognised as such!
I don't get the time in the week to join a local branch so I value my friends here even more!!

Ok, here is the deal for Branch Avenue.
This will be a group entry - not just the mods I suggest we elect someone to coordinate the effort!

And similarly for the raft race challange we need a design and production team as well as a crew.

Image

By the way we may need to do this by PMs to avoid giving away our secrets for success to the geographically based branches!!

A volunteer is worth etc, etc, so come on let's hear from you, it is our 60th Anniversary after all, and we can't keep expecting the same willing people to do everything!!!

Hmmm.. James Bond theme for a raft - that brings up all kinds of ideas!
How are we going to stop those canny branch members from nicking our ideas?? :-?

Is it possible to create a section of the messageboard that is only visible to an approved list of users?

That might be an option, but I'm definately not going to volunteer to decide who isn't allowed... the boss (Cam) is on a branch committee not to mention lots of admins and users who are heavily involved with their local branches.

I'll volunteer to help with the submarine though :D

Well I am a branch committee as well but I will find out if we are entering which I doubt, so the only initial criteria thats needed at first is that all those involved have no involvement with their branch entries if they have one, and as mentioned the only secure way will be by PM for those involved.
Cheers

The Northern Ireland Branch have been discussing welding bonnets together, but were all to big to fit in!!! Also the logistics of getting them accross the water.....

Anyway should be good fun. The main thing is not to take it to serious. I ended up Morris Dancing last year as part of the interbranch challenge, and whats even worse people keep showing me photographs of it!!!!

:o Not serious - thats what you think. we have the brains and skills and we need to win!
I wonder about a seperate place for the disussion. Can you password a entry in facebook?
I have a small boat trailer and live near to a test site with a slipway. we could build and store it here nearer the date. I even have a few ideas!
Count me in.
