Oooooooh - nice ! Did you make it ? I can see you and Bruce Henderson (the lad with the Oxford Traveller and caravan) will be chumming up together at next year's shows! Of course - you'll need to wear your kilt.....

Amazing - great woodworking skills there Graeme! Why such a long drawbar ?

I left the draw bar long to start with so i could cut it later to fine tune the weight on the hitch.

Like that - it will seriously cut corners behind you! You want it as close coupled as possible. Do caravans / trailers need MOT's these days ? I heard something on TV about 'How to minimise the cost of your MOT for your car or caravan" - which as usual turned out to be - "phone around for the best deal"! But the mention of 'caravan' certainly surprised me.

Here is a question I hestitated to ask a scotsman.

How much did it cost?

Posted: Sun Dec 06, 2009 7:30 pm
by GAS
At the moment around £500/600
Most of the stuff is new, some old and some recycled.
It does not need much to finish it,but the weather is holding me back.

It really is a thing of beauty!

I bet your pleased with it. Did you purchase some plans for it I've seen lots on offer or did you design it yourself? Will you paint the aluminium or protect it somehow to prevent oxidation? Where did you find the wheelarches?

Roger.

My tear drop is a combination of a lot of ideas form many other plans and other peoples builds,(http://www.mikenchell.com/forums/index.php)
The wings were form a ford model b(thanks ebay)
I still not sure what to do with the aluminium.Maybe some black rally stripes and polish the rest, or just let it weather.
