Passenger door handle pin

Post by d_harris »

A while ago the passenger door handle 'fell off' the traveller, and its been driving with only the driverside. On inspection today it fell off because the pin which it pivots on had fallen through but will still stuck in the bottom, having spent literally three hours trying to get it back in it wouldn't go (not enough room to lever it back in) so its now being held in by a big fat split pin, any ideas how to get the original pin back?

Dan,
I think you'll have to take the lock assy out, then refit the handle. I haven't tried assembling the handle to a lock still fitted to a car, but I know it's pretty tight for room there.
Try & find out why the pin fell out. You might have to put a couple of centre punch marks in the side of it for grip, or use some sort of Loctite (is Loctite in UK too? - if not it's a thread locking liquid).
