Classic radials

If anyone’s looking for a radial tyre with a classic ‘look’, try the Nangkang CX668, which has a tread pattern reminiscent of a crossply.

OK, they don’t look quite as crossply-like as my existing Firestone 500s, but they’re not bad and probably easier to find.

I got a 155/80 x 14 from Crowmarsh Tyres & Exhausts in Wallingford for about £38 plus VAT.

Small point, I know, but some radials have futuristic swirly tread patterns that just look plain naff on a classic car!

sounds good, do they also do a 145 or 135 size tyre??? 155 is too big for a Minor rim.

My Mog runs van rims so the 155 size is ideal.

Don't know about other sizes but I'm sure your dealer will tell you. Crowmarsh Tyres is on 01491 834088.

Yep 155's are fine on a standard rim. I'm running the Nangkangs and someone commented the other day that I was brave still running the car on crossplys, I didn't correct the guy

I just got a set fitted to the blue minor yesterday and the steering feels great with them. I had camacs on the front and they were rubbish, also only on 2 years and they are cracking between the treads. Nangkangs fitted, disposal of old tryes and new valve necks by a tyre specailist just outside Belfast, 4 tyres for £150 which I was very pleased with :D

I got 5 for £112... but that's the advantage of having a brother with his own tyre fitting business :D

Could I persuade your brother to ship 5 to Canada? Not for £112 but fair retail price plus shipping. I agree the regular Nankang radials look strange for a Minor but if this is the tire in a 155 instead of 165 like at ESM they'd look great.[frame]Image[/frame]
The smallest 14" tyre we can get in Canada is a 175 and that's 'way too big.
